A little teacher humor

6/11 Paths vist
6/14 Boston Field Trip (the trip is 2 days away and there are still 25 students who have not brought in a permission slip and/or some money to go towards the cost of the trip, if your student is not planning on going please send in a note to tell us.)
6/19 Final assembly and 8th grade celebration
Moore Families,
We have field trips and celebrations coming up and want to share our expectations so students can participate in these special events. Our expectations are clear:
1) Be Safe
2) Follow Adult Directions
Over the next few weeks students will get reminders to be safe and follow adult directions while at school. If they respond to reminders and meet these expectations, then they are proving they are ready to fully participate in end of year activities. If they do not respond to reminders, then we will contact you and ask for your support to help your student meet expectations.
If you have any questions about this approach, please contact Ben Donaldson at 874.8150 or by email at donalb@portlandschools.org
Looking for a way to Monitor and Limit Screen Time?
As we all know, teenagers struggle with limiting screen time. Social media, videos, and gaming all catch our students attention and end up occupying much off their time. Teachers are seeing the impact of screen time and especially the latest craze, Fortnight, as many students are exhausted in school and getting less work done outside of class.
Recently we came across a new parental internet control that can help parents monitor and regulate screen time and internet access for their children called Circle.
Circle pairs with your home Wi-Fi and lets you manage every connected device on your network, both wireless and wired, without needing to put software on the devices. Parents can set time limits for apps and web sites, set up age appropriate filters, apply custom filters for individual sites, set up bedtimes and off times, and even use a pause button for the Internet. Circle Go makes the same monitoring of your child’s device possible when they are on mobile networks..
Many popular routers now have Circle built in, including Belkin, Lynksys, Netgear and many others. If your router is not compatible a circle hardware device is available for purchase. The basic service is free. Premium service and Circle Go are monthly subscriptions.
